Excursions offer a space for students to learn, grow and mature through different types of challenging experiences. In our excursions, not only do students become more autonomous; they also become very well aware of their surroundings. We travel to different regions of our country as well as other continents. In Colombia we have been to Guajira, Amazonas, Chocó, Llanos, and San Agustin, to name just a few. Wherever we go, not only do we interact with local people. For teachers and students, sharing this time together creates close bonds with everyone; this selflessness helps them be concerned with every individual in the group. We also get to know the region itself and its surroundings, and eventually most of our country.
We are fully aware that students have an outstanding creative capacity and imagination. These workshops allow students to discover new passions by exploring areas of interest not available in the general curriculum: jewelry, woodwork, ceramics, photography, artistic expressions, orchestra, modern dancing. They learn how to communicate their necessities, interests and even concerns in new ways, even to the point of expressing their personal criticism about a given situation.
This is definitely a landmark in Campoalegre, for it is a school project where students, teachers, administrators and school helpers all come together to work as one: music, dance, art, stage scenery, props, lights, sound, theatrical skills. At the beginning of every school year, the seniors decide which musical they want to set up. Not only do musicals enhance academic learning; they also develop a sense of responsibility in those involved, making it a fun process with precise goals that have to be achieved according to a timeline. Musicals are so important in Campoalegre, that the children in Pre-school have set up their own dance musical which they present in Halloween.
A student learns interacting on a daily basis with the world around him. More than transmitting knowledge, the students build it by themselves.
Sport, in addition to being a fundamental part of well-being and health, brings together and helps in the integral formation of children and young people. Sports activities promote psychomotor, mental, personal and social development. Campoalegre School offers and works different sports, both in team and individual disciplines, which are transversal from preschool to high school.
